Analytics (Insights)

The Overview and Reports views, the range control, every counter and card, CSV export, and which parts of analytics are gated by plan.

Sidebar: Daily → Analytics. The page heading reads Insights — same screen. Two views, one shared time window, and a CSV export.

The controls in the header

View tabs

  • Overview — how busy, is it working, what did we hold back. What you open the page for.
  • Reports — the deeper set you come back for.

Range

7d / 14d / 30d / 90d. The page opens on 14d, and an unrecognised ?range= falls back to 14d. The chosen window lives in the URL, so it is shareable, bookmarkable, and the back button works.

The range governs the charts, the sparklines, the agent report and the economics table. Two things ignore it on purpose: the two compliance cards use your workspace's own timezone week (because "what did we hold back this week" is a different question — they print their exact window and timezone on their face), and Cohort retention always shows the trailing 8 weekly cohorts.

Export CSV

Click Export CSV. The file holds four sections for the current range: the daily counters (every plan), inbound messages per day, first-response times, and new contacts by source (those last three need Growth — below it they are simply absent from the file, not zeroed). Customer questions and contact identities are deliberately never exported.

Before there's data

Until the first DM or contact arrives, the whole page is a single "No insights yet" state — no tiles, no controls. It fills in once Instagram is connected and messages flow.

If Instagram is not connected yet, that state's button is Connect Instagram. If it already is, the button becomes Create an automation — the page will never ask you to connect an account that is already live.

The counter tiles

Always visible, on every plan:

TileCountsWindow
ConversationsConversationsthis month
Messages handledMessagesall time
ContactsContactsall time
Leads capturedEmails capturedall time
RevenuePaid order valuelast 14 days

The four counter tiles each have a sparkline underneath, drawn over the range you picked — so the headline number's window and the line's window are different, and the subtitle says both. The Revenue tile has no sparkline.

Two honesty rules built into these tiles:

  • Revenue appears only once you have a paid order AND are on Growth or above — revenue attribution is a Growth feature, enforced in SQL, so on Free and Starter the tile is absent even with paid orders. A $0.00 tile would read as "we tried to sell and failed" rather than "commerce isn't set up".
  • A failed read draws no line at all, while a genuine run of zeros draws a flat one. A confident flat line under a number we couldn't check would be the same lie in a different costume.

Overview

The trust row (every plan)

Two cards, above the volume charts on purpose — "is it working, and what did we hold back" outranks "how busy was it".

  • Answered vs held — how many replies went out, and how many the compliance gate stopped.
  • Compliance activity — the gate's own reporting.

These are on every plan including Free, deliberately: safety is not sold as a feature.

Inbound messages (Growth and up)

A daily-volume chart with the total for the range and a trend against the previous period of the same length. No delta is shown at all when there is nothing to compare against, rather than a flattering 0%.

Top automations (Growth and up)

A leaderboard of your automations by runs. Empty state: "No automation runs yet. Set one live to see it here."

On Free and Starter these two cards are replaced by one card explaining that the daily chart and the leaderboard are part of full analytics on Growth and up — and that your counters and the whole compliance row stay on every plan.

AI agent report (Starter and up)

How the agent is doing: answer quality, grounding, where it fell short, and what it cost to run per conversation (informational — not a charge on top of your plan). A "Counting from <date>" note appears when the window is wider than the collected history.

Knowledge gaps (every plan, including Free)

The questions the agent could not answer from your knowledge, collected into a list of things worth writing down. Ungated on purpose — it is an activation surface, not a report. Go from here to Agent → Knowledge and paste the answers.

Automation economics (Growth and up)

Which automation the money came from.

Reports

Four cards, ordered by how often you'd act on them:

Card (on-screen title)Answers
How fast you replyHow fast are we replying? (weekly question)
Where your contacts came fromWhere are new contacts coming from? (weekly question)
When your customers messageWhen are people messaging, in your workspace's timezone? (staffing question)
Do your contacts come back?Do they come back? Always the trailing 8 weekly cohorts, "by the week they arrived".

All four need Growth or above.

Feedback

At the bottom of both views there is a single textarea asking what's missing from these numbers. It is deliberately absent from the empty states — "what's missing?" only means something once there are numbers to be missing from.

Common questions

Why is a card greyed out or replaced with an explanation? It needs a higher plan. The card says which. See plans-and-billing.md.

Why does the compliance row ignore my range? It uses your workspace's timezone week on purpose. The card prints its window so the two can't be confused.

Why doesn't Revenue match my Shopify/Stripe dashboard? The tile counts every paid order recorded from your connected store or checkout in the last 14 days, one currency at a time — other currencies are counted separately and disclosed in the subtitle. The "which automation earned it" view is the Automation economics table.

Reading the numbers honestly

Interpret runs, clicks and captured emails as separate event totals. Clicks per run is not CTR or proof of a sale. Exclude your own test conversations when comparing acquisition and activation, and compare like with like when signups arrive through different methods.
