How to set up AI comment replies

Let the agent reply publicly to clearly positive comments under your posts, in your voice, from a tone note and a few example replies. The rest stays yours.

AI Comments replies publicly under your Instagram posts and reels, in your voice. It replies only to clearly positive comments. Neutral comments, negative comments and questions are left for you — that boundary is the whole design.

Before you start

  • Growth and up.
  • Only an owner or admin can switch it on.
  • Instagram won't let apps read your past replies, so you will paste a few examples to teach it your voice.

Switch it on

  1. Go to Agent → Overview and scroll to the AI Comments card.
  2. Toggle AI Comments on.
  3. Optionally set a Tone, e.g. Warm and playful, one line, loves an emoji but never salesy.
  4. Add Example replies — paste 3–5 replies you'd actually send.
  5. Click Preview 5 sample replies. You see what it would say on sample positive comments.
  6. If it looks right, save below to switch it on.

Where it replies, and where it stays out

  • Under your own posts and reels only.
  • Never under an ad on its own.
  • Never on a comment a Comment → DM automation has answered — on a post or on an ad. See instagram-ad-comments.md.

Check it

From a second Instagram account, leave a clearly positive comment on one of your posts — "love this!" — and watch for the reply. Leave a question as well and confirm it gets no automated reply: that one is yours to answer.

Common problems

It replied to nothing. Only clearly positive comments qualify. A comment with a question in it is left for you.

The replies don't sound like me. Add more Example replies and tighten the Tone, then Preview 5 sample replies again before saving.

The card is greyed out. AI Comments needs the Growth plan or above — plans-and-billing.md.
