Comment moderation

Review spam, links and abuse in your Instagram comments: obvious spam is hidden for you, the rest waits for a person, and any hide undoes in one tap.

Sidebar: Account → Settings → Comment moderation. It appears only where it's switched on for your workspace.

HyperDM can flag comments on your Instagram posts that look like spam, contain a link, or use abusive language. Obvious spam is hidden automatically, unless you turn that off. Everything else waits for you to decide.

Roles that can edit automations can change the rule and hide comments. Anyone else who can see the page can read it.

Turn it on

  1. Go to Settings → Comment moderation.
  2. Turn on Flag comments for review. It's off until you do.
  3. Choose what to flag: Spam, Links and Abuse.
  4. Under Spam, Hide obvious spam automatically is on. Turn it off if you'd rather review spam yourself too.

It works on comments that arrive from then on. Earlier comments aren't checked.

Review a comment

Flagged comments appear under To review, with the commenter's username and why each was flagged. They stay visible on Instagram until you act.

  • Hide hides the comment on Instagram.
  • Keep removes it from the list and leaves it visible.

Spam hidden automatically

With Hide obvious spam automatically on, obvious spam is hidden on Instagram as soon as it arrives. Obvious means two things at once: an offer (a pitch to earn money, followers for sale, a promotion service, a prize to claim) and the spammer sending people to themselves ("link in my bio", "DM me", "escríbeme", "chama no direct", "my Telegram"). A price, a web address or a phone number alone is never enough. It's listed under Hidden marked Hidden automatically.

Before anything is hidden, an AI model (OpenAI) reads the comment and must agree it's spam. Only the comment's words are sent, never the commenter's name or username. If the model says it isn't spam, isn't sure or doesn't answer in time, or your workspace has used up today's checks (300 a day), nothing is hidden: the comment waits under To review for you. The checks don't use the AI budget your own drafting tools use.

  • Comment moderation in the sidebar shows a number: how many comments were hidden automatically since you last opened the page. The page shows the same count at the top. Click Review to jump to the list. The number clears once you've opened the page.
  • Only obvious spam hides automatically. Weaker spam signs ("follow me and I'll follow back", "check out my page", "sígueme y te sigo"), links and abusive words wait under To review.
  • Never hidden automatically: a question, a complaint, a warning or a report (even one that describes or quotes spam: "they messaged me 'you won a prize, claim it here', is this you?"), someone who wants to buy or resell, a partner or customer saying thanks, a reply that starts by tagging someone, and friends or family congratulating your giveaway's winner. A commenter's own phone number or web address is never a reason to hide.
  • Nothing hides automatically while your workspace is paused.
  • If Instagram refuses the hide, the comment waits under To review instead.

The number shows for roles that can edit automations, because they're the ones who can undo a hide.

Undo a hide

Everything hidden, by you or automatically, is listed under Hidden. Click Undo to show the comment on Instagram again. A comment you undo is never hidden automatically again.

The list keeps comments for 30 days. After that you can still unhide one in the Instagram app.

What it doesn't flag

  • Comments that triggered one of your automations or flows, because those people asked for what you offer.
  • Comments during an Instagram Live, because Instagram doesn't support hiding them.
  • Complaints. "This is a scam" or "worst service ever" stay out of the list on purpose, because hiding a real customer's complaint is worse than leaving it up. A complaint that also reads like a pitch can be flagged so you can look at it, but it's never hidden automatically.

The checks look for common spam phrases, web addresses and strong insults in English, Spanish and Portuguese, with or without accents. They're kept short on purpose, so some junk will still get through. In other languages only web addresses, and spam or insults written in English, are caught.

Common questions

Does hiding a comment undo an automated DM? No. A comment that triggered an automation is never flagged, and hiding a comment doesn't take back anything already sent.

Can I hide my own comments? No. Instagram always shows comments you make on your own posts.
