Install website chat on your site

Where website chat is on: get the install code, add your domains and privacy link, put the code on your site and check it loaded.

Where it's on: website chat is in a limited preview. If Settings → Channels shows a Website chat row, it's on for your workspace; otherwise there is nothing to install yet. Only owners and admins can set it up. Every setting on the page is described in Website chat.

Set up the chat and get the code

  1. Go to Settings → Channels and click Set up on the Website chat row.
  2. Click Set up website chat. The page opens with your install code in the Install section.
  3. Under Allowed domains, type your site's address (for example shop.example.com) and click Add domain. Add every address your site uses, such as both example.com and www.example.com.
  4. Under Privacy, paste your privacy policy's full address into Privacy policy link. It must start with https://.
  5. Click Save changes. The chip at the top now reads Waiting for the first visit.

Put the code on your site

In the Install section, pick your platform and follow its steps. Each starts with Copy.

Any website

  1. Click Copy.
  2. Paste the code at the end of every page, just before the closing body tag, or in your site's shared footer.

Shopify

  1. In Shopify admin, open Online Store, then Themes.
  2. On your live theme, choose Edit code and open theme.liquid.
  3. Paste the code just before the closing body tag, then save.

WordPress

  1. Install a plugin that adds code to your site's footer, such as WPCode.
  2. Add a new footer snippet and paste the code.
  3. Save it and make sure it runs on every page.

Wix

  1. In your Wix dashboard, open Settings, then Custom code.
  2. Add custom code, paste the code and choose All pages.
  3. Place it in the Body – end and apply.

Squarespace

  1. Open Settings, then Advanced, then Code injection.
  2. Paste the code into the Footer box.
  3. Save. Code injection needs a Squarespace plan that includes it.

Google Tag Manager

  1. Create a new tag of type Custom HTML.
  2. Paste the code and set the trigger to All Pages.
  3. Save, then publish the container.

Check that it loaded

  1. Open your site in a browser. The chat's launcher appears in the corner you chose.
  2. Back in HyperDM, click Check again under Installation check. It shows the page the chat loaded on and when, and the chip at the top reads Live on your domain.

Test a chat

  1. On your site, open the chat and send a question.
  2. Open the Inbox. The chat is there, marked with the website channel. While your test window is open it shows On your site now.
  3. Reply from the Inbox. The reply appears in the chat window on your site.

If it doesn't load

  • The launcher doesn't appear. The page's address must match an allowed domain exactly, including www. if your site uses it. Add the missing address and save.
  • Your site blocks it. A site with a strict content security policy must allow chat.hyperdm.app for scripts (script-src), frames (frame-src) and connections (connect-src).
  • Installation check says it hasn't been seen. Make sure the code is on the page you opened (for Google Tag Manager, that the container is published), reload your site, then click Check again.
