Comment-to-DM

An automation that sends someone a direct message after they comment a chosen keyword on a post, reel, or live — moving a public comment into a private conversation.

Comment-to-DM is one of the most common Instagram automations. You pick a post and a trigger word (say, “LINK” or “WANT”); when someone comments that word, the tool opens a DM with them automatically — usually to send a link, answer a question, or start a sale.

On the official Meta APIs it must be consent-respecting: the DM is a reply to a person who chose to comment, and the recipient can opt out. Done well it feels like a fast reply; done badly it feels like spam, which is why the opening message matters more than the trigger.
